Keeping Children Safe: Recognizing Child Abuse

We all come in contact with children who are being abused, but often the signs go overlooked and are not so clear to see. Every 10 seconds, a case of child abuse is reported, but thousands more go unreported. The impact of COVID-19 has increased child abuse rates and perpetrators have found it easier to hide.

In our free, live online presentation"Keeping Children Safe: Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse" we are getting the community involved to recognize when a child needs our help. Knowing what to look for could save a child's life.

This presentation answers questions such as:

  • How prevalent is abuse in our community?

  • What are the different types of abuse?

  • How can you tell when a child needs YOUR help?

  • What are some signs of child abuse that will surprise you?

  • If a child needs help, what should you do?

  • What are some of the myths about reporting child abuse?

  • You will also have the opportunity to ask your own questions!

This ongoing event is part of Project Protect 2021. The goal of this project is to train 2,021 people by the end of 2021 to know the warning signs of child abuse.
