Exploring the Impact of Violence and Victimization within the Family on a Person’s Identity and Well-being

  • Online United States (map)

Victimization is an interpersonal experience and it occurs in all kinds of relationships, from close and intimate ones to encounters between strangers. In this 2-hour webinar, participants will discuss the ecological framework and increase their understanding of the context in which violence occurs, specifically focusing on familial relationships. They will discuss the impact violence has in the familial environment on a person in victim status’ well-being and identity, expanding their understanding of how violence can disrupt one’s self continuity, relational value, and sense of meaning in their life. Participants will identify strategies to promote and support the wellness of the person in victim status as they struggle with meaningfulness, figuring out who they are separate from the victimization, and if they choose, remain in their familial relationships in safe ways.
