The end of each year offers a chance to pause and reflect. In the non-profit world, however, the “year’s end” doesn’t happen on December 31, but on June 30, because we follow a fiscal calendar.
Of course, only a few weeks after the 2021 fiscal year ended, our office suffered a major set-back in the form of a broken water line. Each day that followed was an exercise in resiliency, determination, and dedication. And like any other obstacle that gets thrown our way, we find a way to keep going. We were determined to not let our office flood keep us from taking a moment to recognize the accomplishments of last year. To do so would be a disservice to you, our supporters, and every person who made the year’s accomplishment’s possible. This isn’t our moment in the spotlight— it’s yours.
While the pandemic undoubtedly shaped the year, so too did our 161 amazing Court Appointed Special Advocates who are the true heroes in the field, driving an estimated 33,545 miles collectively to see children in foster homes across Northern New Jersey (and beyond). We saw the launch of not one but TWO new programs: New Jersey’s Safe Babies Court Team and the Neighborhood Assistance Program. We grew from an office of 15 to 21, and each new employee brought invaluable talents to our cause.
Today we are delighted to share Passaic County CASA’s 2020-2021 Impact Report with you. We hope you will take a few moments in your busy day to appreciate what you helped make possible. Thank you for your dedication and support in 2020-2021 and continued partnership as we look into the future.
